CELEBRATING THE 30 YEARS ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIFE PROGRAMME

A beautiful day of information, birdwatching and exchange of ideas among people who share the same passion for our lesser kestrels!

On the 21st May, ornithologists and birdwatchers from the Scanagatta Ornithological Research Center (CROS) in Varenna met with volunteers of the Modenese Ornithological Station (SOM) and the #LIFEFALKON team to celebrate together the 30th anniversary of the LIFE program and the Natura 2000 network.

On this occasion, participants had the opportunity to visit the nesting towers, observe lesser kestrel colonies, and learn about all the ongoing conservation actions under our project. The visit, led by SOM experts and our team, took place in protected areas between the Mirandolesi Valleys (MO) and the countryside of Poggio Rusco (MN).

Many environments were visited, as well as the bird species observed: in addition to the lesser kestrel, the majestic Red-footed Falcon and the endangered Roller, which share nesting habitat (and sometimes even nest boxes!) with our beloved lesser kestrels.
